Digital education platform for the Swedish Gender Equality Agency
The demand for digital training is at a record high. The need has grown in recent years, partly as a result of the corona pandemic. More and more companies and authorities need to be able to conduct digital training for employees, customers, and the general public.
When the Swedish Gender Equality Agency procured a system for web-based training, the assignment went to In The Cold, which saw an opportunity to create a modern training platform that is both accessibility-adapted and based on the latest learning research.
“We have created a completely new type of training platform that provides the Swedish Gender Equality Agency the opportunity to create and conduct web-based training in a very flexible and smooth way” – Jan Wimander.

Flexible module system for tailoring training
The training platform is based on the open-source platform WordPress and is built from various training modules that can be combined to create unique training. Each training is tailored and adapted to the course’s content and target audience. While flexibility is great, the interface for creating training is smooth and easy to work with. Great emphasis has been placed on user experience, UX, and design.
The modern and clean design is easy to navigate and has an intuitive structure that facilitates learning and makes it clear for those taking the course what the next step is and how to navigate back and forth between different sections. The goal was to create an innovative learning environment and is developed to promote different individuals’ ways of acquiring new knowledge.
Based on current learning research, we created several different modules that support different people’s learning. The training can be built up with everything from text and image, video and audio files, to question quizzes and other formats where course participants interact and can practice, consolidate, and test their newfound knowledge.

Training accessible to all
The training platform is responsive, and all course elements can be executed via mobile, computer, or tablet. The platform is also accessibility-adapted and meets the requirements according to the accessibility directive (WCAG 2.1, level AA). In practice, this means that everyone, regardless of disabilities such as reduced vision or hearing, can navigate the platform and take in all the content of the training according to their abilities.
